Lost Data

When I opened all my special mailboxes on my iPhone all the messages and data that were stored in them, quickly vanished into thin air. Emails and receipts that I had been saving for years----pooooof, and now I'm really pissed!!! Rumor says it was because of the last apple update I downloaded---iOS 9.2.1. Any truth to this, and what can I do to get all this data back again. Thanks for ANY help!

If the email account(s) you're using on your iPhone can be accessed online, like Outlook, iCloud or Gmail, then login using a browser and make sure everything is still there.
Then remove the account from your iPhone and set it up again.

Thanks for the reply, but that's the first place I checked. They're all gone from in there also. I'm afraid all is lost. For next time, can I put these folders (actually labels) in 'the cloud'?

If it's an iCloud account, that lost the folders, they already were "in the cloud". Same goes for Gmail or Outlook - in different clouds, though.
