Looking for a translucent case that has good protection

I have a blue iPhone 5c and I want to buy a protector that shows off the color of the phone but that has good protection for drops out of my hand, nightstand/ etc. I know there are pretty strong cases out there, I like the gryphon (I think it is) but they seem to swallow up your iPhone. I don't need military grade protection, I don't think. I could be wrong but I had to have my smashed screen replaced because I dropped it with no cover at all. Maybe if you're someone who drops your phone often you need a Gryphon. I don't know. I like the Spigen (sp?) case it seems to be a happy medium but you can't see the back of you phone : (.
