Have a strange lock icon on my iPhone 4 near the battery symbol it's a padlock with a circle round it can anybody tell me what it means and how to get rid of it please

Have a strange lock icon on my iPhone 4 near the battery symbol it's a padlock with a circle round it can anybody tell me what it means and how to get rid of it please

It's rotation lock.

Double press the home button, swipe to the right. Beside iPod controls there is a gray button. Tap it, and the symbol beside your battery will go away, indicating that orientation lock is not on.

It enables/disables switching to landscape view.
