JB + water damage = covered through insurence?

There really isn't a definitive answer. If... the motherboard is completely fried then I'd say no. However... if a few parts are replaced & the iDevice springs to life kid course they'll know.

According to the local apple store, they don't repair, just not worth the time ( screens only)
I suppose when the wholesale cost of an iPhone 4s 16gb is £115 you can see why
