jailbreaking iPhone 4 activation?

I just got a used iPhone 4 but it doesn't have a SIM card, and it's been reset to factory state (or whatever it's called... I'm totally incompetent). I'm going on a trip soon and I'd like to use it like a normal iPod but I can't get past the activation screen and I don't have time to buy a SIM for it any time soon, so jailbreaking it seems like a decent solution. I kinda know how to do it, there's like a million tutorials on Youtube, but I'm scared that if I jailbreak it I won't be able to use it with a SIM later after I come back from my trip and it'll be stuck in iPod mode forever. Will this happen or is it just me being stupid?

Jailbreaking using RedSn0w will hacktivate your device.

Yeah I'm planning on using RedSn0w but after hactivating it like maybe a week or two later will I be able to add a normal SIM to it?

Assuming the SIM matches the original carrier of the device, yes.
