They are not any different, you are correct, Nikki.

I use my daughter's iPod charger for my iPad.

My iPad charger has a white box type thing that slots onto the plug that the USB plugs into, it's not like my 4s charger. It resembles the Mac book pro power adaptor.

The iPad 2 charger has a charging output of 2.1 Amps. The iPhone charger has a charging output of 1 Amp. I would not use the iPad 2 charger all the time, the high output, fast charge from the iPad 2 charger will decrease the life of the iPhone battery if used a lot. I confirmed this with an Apple store tech.

The Apple store tech was incorrect.

There is no problem using the iPad charger on the iPhone all of the time.

I would say this confirmed. The link below says "iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter" in the Charging Tips section.
