iPhone's and iCloud

Going to get iPhone 5 when it comes out. And wife will take over the iPhone 4. How will that work on iCloud ( and iTunes ). If we don't use same Apple ID then pics from both won't go to iPad. But will iCloud recognize the iPhones as 2 devices and keep things like contacts separate.

With all i know that the icloud syncs with the account and not the phone in specific. If you change the user account on the phone i think you should be fine.
