iphone voicemail/ answering machine

Is there a way to get rid of carrier vm and instead use an app to record voicemail?

I know a lot of people will ask why as i have been searching endlessly for this but to no avail.

My carrier as most carriers in canada charge us up the *** for an extra services and I am not willing to shell out $120 bux a yr extra jsut to get voicemail I would rather have an app that can record a msg to mp3 that i can retreive later

It seems no app exists but wanted ask on here and maybe get the attentio of someone with the know how to create such an app

Don't know if you can actually get rid of carrier but Google Voice might work for what you need

Vodafone Ireland let u record ur own voice as vm,check out in vm menu.
