Iphone noob need best app ranking site

Went from droid x to iPhone. From what I can tell it's overall better. Still need to jailbreak. My main issue is finding older apps and games. The app store lists popularity for current apps but I feel like missing out on some of the older stuff. Is their any way to find popular apps by month or year?

Is there a game for iPhone similar to Dyson on pc. Or kinda phage wars/cell wars type game. Galcon is close but not really. Thanks.
