Business Insider reports that it has heard from an employee at Apple’s offices in Herzliya, Israel, that the company is currently developing hardware for next year’s iPhone, which the employee explicitly referred to as “iPhone 8.”
The source, who solders components for Apple, went on to say that employees at Apple’s Israel office are working on all of Apple’s new products. They did not reveal much about the new phone, only to say that it would be “different” to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7, which ties in with other recent rumours about next year’s iPhone having a radical redesign.
The anonymous employee also said that the iPhone 8 will have a much better camera than the last two iPhones.
As to the credibility of the report, Business Insider is a very legitimate news outlet, and clearly took pains to verify their source’s information with several other sources, including someone from Cisco, which has offices very close to Apple’s offices in Herzliya. The Cisco employee that spoke to Business Insider said “I have three friends that work there. They work on the hardware side. Verifications. Something like that.”
