This is Queen Charlotte’s Cottage, built in the 17 century and used by the Royal Family in the 18th century.

Behind the cottage is an area full of bluebells. Apparently this paddock area housed kangaroos at one time. The path through the bluebells leads to the rear of the cottage just hidden by the trees.

A pleasant seat amongst the colours and scents of both rhododendrons and azaleas.

Correct. Very warm day (for the UK) with not a cloud in the sky. Very busy, being a Bank Holiday, but at least our season tickets got us in a little before the crowds.

One of the benefits of living near a film studio (Pinewood) is that sets are often built in both Black and Langley Park. (There was a beautiful ‘building’ in Black Park a couple of years ago for ‘A Little Chaos’ and we often recognise the lake nearby in tv series.)

Currently: ‘For a new Dr Dolittle film a village street of stone house facades has been built on an open area of Langley Park.’

Look at the chimneys to get an idea of the scope of the buildings in terms of what the cameras, and hence the audience, will see. The backs of the buildings show how they are all simply facades built with wood and solid foam.

If the film set is not enough, there are beautiful rhododendron walks nearby, in Langley Park. It was a pity that very heavy rain brought down many of the flowers, but then they turned into a flower carpet.

Stag Beetle

This flew around our garden yesterday evening, much to the excitement of our neighbours cats who finally managed to knock it to the ground - and then, thankfully, lost interest. I rescued it, as they are very rare and endangered I believe, and put it out of reach.

Photo taken in macro mode with camera +, and I took care not to get too close to those pincers.
