iPhone 6 Will Have New “Phosphorus” Co-Processor

According to a report on Phone Arena today, the forthcoming iPhone 6 will have a new processor, code named “Phosphorus.”

More powerful than the iPhone 5s’s M7, Phone Arena says that this new processor will work alongside the A8 processor, and will be mainly concerned with processing health data, including heart rate, calories burned, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar, for the new HealthKit features, as well as motion-processing functions.

Apparently the user can either enter such data into the Health app manually, or it can be automatically collected via an optional accessory or wearable device.

As Phone Arena notes, it sounds as though Apple is very serious about its new Health platform if it is actually upgrading components specifically to support said platform. And it could also be further indication that the iWatch is also going to be a device that is capable of measuring many different bodily functions.

Either way, it sounds like Apple is intent on keeping its loyal customers healthy and alive for as long as possible!
