I jailbroke my iPhone 5, and was okay for several weeks. Then it restarted and could not get passed the apple logo. Did a DFU restore, and was back to non jailbroken phone. I did not jailbreak again, but a couple weeks later my phone bricked so I took it in to the apple store. They could not resolve it, so they replaced it with a new one.

The question is; could these crashes be related to the jail break? My feeling is no, since the 2nd time occurred while not being jailbroken. Just wanted some thoughts.

No, if it happened while the device was not jailbroken then it was a hardware issue. Also, there is no way to brick an iPhone by jailbreaking.

I understand. And I wasn't implying that it happened the first time because it was jailbroken.

Jailbreaking and restoring can't brick your device. The only common "software-related" case would be if you improperly flash your baseband.
