Iphone 4 connection to itunes

I hope someone can help me with this. When I first bought my iPhone I had iTunes set up to open automatically when I connected my phone. Recently turned off this feature. Now I want to turn it back on and it won't let me. The box to check to turn on this feature is greyed out. Does anyone know how to turn it back on?

reinstall itunes. or make sure u have the latest verison

I reinstalled iTunes twice and have all the latest updates. Any other suggestions?

You may need to update the iphone 4's driver on your computer.

Uninstalled all things apple from my computer then reinstalled. This worked. Thanks for the help
