Some people enjoy the appeal of such things. Who knows if the poster lives around any bad area? He'll be alright

Hah, I can see that. I was thinking of investing in one of the steel backing for my iPhone because of practicality, because the glass back not only scratches, but is easily broken. I understand people wanting to change their devices cosmetically, but Apple does design beautiful devices! And I have no idea if they do, but I'm sure they travel once and a while, and you never know.. Just a thought. :)

Not a good idea to do it yourself even when you follow online instructions.

You don't get any guarantee or insurance covered anywhere..

You should use a company to do it.

Anyway, are you sure everything is connected proberly? I mean, I have installed loads of these gold, and for that matter any other colors and styles, for customers, and there has never been any problems.

What kind of tools did you use?

Did you have rubber gloves on or did you do it barehanded?

Might seem like odd questions but if you don't use gloves there's two things that can f*** up your phone. Just a little bit of sweat from your hands or static electricity. That's enough to damage your device.

you said the F word. Warning. lol

I'm guessing maybe the battery isn't connected properly? Why else would it only turn on when connected to the PC? Perhaps it's powering on, detecting a power fault, and getting stuck in a reboot loop. Obviously the motherboard is sending output to the screen if you are seeing an Apple logo.

No offense, but I don't recommend that people with such limited technical knowledge that they refer to the USB sync cable as the "Apple wire" try to do modifications such as this without help. It may look simple on video, but unless you know exactly what you are looking at and dealing with; it's very easy to mess up a simple connection. Some small-form-factor connectors are not easy to get connected correctly, at all.

Hahaha apple wire!!! Didn't even notice that xD

Sorry 'bout laughing.

Well, I got 2 suggestions.

Start from the top again and don't use a video, instead go to IFIXIT

or pay someone to do it... Maybe me? lol
