Did you know that iOS 9 now lets you create bullet points and checklists in the Notes app? PhoneArena explains how you can now use these features, should you so wish.

If you’re a regular user of the Notes app on your iPhone, you’ll be aware that previously it was a very simple app, whereby you could only write down lists of words, without being able to tick them off. Of course the Reminders app does have the ability to tick off tasks, but it seems Apple felt that you needed to be able to do it in Notes as well.

Aside from now being able to create more fancy to-do lists in Notes, you can also now use a stylus or your finger to scribble away to your heart’s content.

To get started with your advanced Note-taking, simply tap the writing icon in the bottom right-hand corner, then tap the + icon to access your essential tools.

Tapping the “Aa” icon will bring up the “Formatting” menu, from where you can select what type of list you want to create, be it Bulleted, Dashed, or Numbered.

It’s then very easy to create your list by typing and pressing Return.

If you want to create a Reminders-style checklist, simply tap the tick icon on the left, and type your list in the same way as you would for bullet points.

Or, if that’s all a little too ordered for you and you want to start squiggling with your stylus or finger, simply select the squiggly icon to the right of the Formatting menu bar at the bottom of the screen.
