I'd try a hard reset (Hold top button and bottom button until Apple appears). If that doesn't fix it bring it to the genus bar and see if they can figure it out or give you a replacement.

Both mine and my wifes does this every day. I have to go into settings and then off/on the auto button and it's back in sync. It's annoying

Well, I can understand if you and your wife have the same issue that you think it's widespread but that simply is not so. What have you done besides going into settings? You have a brand new phone, if it doesn't work properly get a replacement. I don't have that issue.

Go to settings>location services>system services> make sure you have selected "setting time zone"

Excellent point. Definitely would explain the married couple's issue.

My 5 does this too not everyday but it's done it twice in the last week. I just did a reset and fixed it. My wife's 4S hasn't done it. We're on Verizon.
