Imessage problem

Hi All, I have an open group Imessage with my family, all of us exept my brother have no real issues but his is very erratic!... one day he can post and reply no problems but most of the time his messages come thru as a personal message and not to the group message?... also his email address sometimes shows rather than his name in our contacts??

Can anyone shed any light on this issue please
