How can I delete all entries from my "Contacts" folder?

Hi All.

I was given an iPhone 3GS and I wish to remove all the contacts and phone numbers connected with the previous owner. Is there another way fo deleting/removing them without having to access each and every one individually?

Any advice please?

P.S. What are "tags"?

Plug it into a computer w/ Internet and iTunes. Restore the iPhone as a New Device.

I did that but the damn thing restored from an auto backup. I was sure I unticked the box before, but I did not manage to tick the "new phone" box as it only came up for a split second.

I will have to check the "not restore from backup" and try again and see if I can go for a "new phone" again.

Hi all.

All fixed. I was surprised though that despite ticking any box that I saw that may have an effect after a restore, the iPhone still retrieved data from my iPad backup and loaded that.

No drama though, all I had to do was to untick the unwanted APPs etc. and they were uninstalled off the iPhone. I chose to have the iPhone to import contacts from Outlook.
