help with video from laptop to iphone

I have a video on my laptop that i was sent from family to me via skype, the video is good quality(not perfect or HD) and sound is good. It plays on my laptop and tv perfect, but when i copy it to my iphone and when i play it back on iphone the sound is missing? i have converted it to mp4 but still no sound??? please help
