Settings> iCloud> Make sure that contacts are toggled on. Before doingthis make sure you have all of your contacts, and that no other email account has Contacts toggled on. As long as you have iCloud enabled, all your contacts will be there always.............Even when you do not restore from a backup. You both must have your own iCloud/Apple ID account.
