Hi all. First post so please be gentle!

Is there any free way to get the photos off the iphone (not camera roll, but album photos sync'd from an old mac which has died)?

I've found a few 3rd party software packages, but they all want around $25. Is there a free option out there?

Thanks in advance!

I use Dropbox.

It's free, and had plenty of space for photos with the free account. You can upgrade for a fee tho.

Just install the Dropbox app on both iPhone, and your computer.

It is simple. You do not have to sync anything. Syncing happens automatically.

Since you want photos from your Mac, all ya have to do us make a Dropbox account, install the Dropbox.exe. Very simple. Should make a shortcut on your desktop. If not....make one.

Then drag the photos on your Mac to your Dropbox folder on your desktop.

Now every single photo you drop to that Dropbox folder will show up in te Dropbox app in your phone.

Open the Dropbox app on your phone and all your photos will be there. Just simply open the photo and save it to your camera roll.

No matter what....whatever you move, delete or add to that Dropbox folder, will show up in the dropbox app on your iPhone, and vice versa.

I'm not sure I made myself clear enough on my original post sorry. I no longer have the mac, it died :(

I have therefore lost all my original photos.

The photos are still on my iphone in the albums.

If I plug my phone into my new mac, I can go into image capture and get the camera roll, but I don't want the camera roll, I want to retrieve my album photos.

I've got the mac equivalent to sharepod for the music retriveal, but not worked out how to get the photos.

You can still do the same thing I said with Dropbox. Just in reverse.

Download the Dropbox app, make an account, open the app, and upload the photos from your camera roll to the Dropbox app. You do this from within the Dropbox app by tapping the "Uploads" tab at the bottom, then tapping the plus sign in the top right corner.

Simply select all the photos you want, and they will upas to your Dropbox account.

Now install the Dropbox app on your new computer, sign in and all your photos that you uploaded to you Dropbox app on your phone from your camera roll/albums will show up in the Dropbox folder on your computer.

Same thing.....just in reverse.
