G-mail

I think I posted this message originally to the wrong folder, so I will re-post here. When I try to check my e-mail (g-mail) on my Iphone, I often get the following error:'
"Cannot Get Mail
The mail server "imap.gmail.com" is not responding. Verify that you have enetered the correct account info in Mail Settings"?

I have mine set up to have my [email protected]. Works fine.
