Would it also be appropriate to post discussions of med apps here as well or should that really be confined to the apps section?

Hi there...we have allowed for apps related to Health and Medicine within these two sections over at our sister Forum at iPadForums.net.

So go ahead and post your app anouncement, and if we need to move it, I will take care of that and let you know.
