First alleged A11 chip images posted online.JPG

MacRumors reports that Slashleaks has posted what are claimed to be images of the forthcoming iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and iPhone 8 A11 chip. If genuine, the appearance of the images on Chinese microblogging website Weibo would indicate that iPhone 8 production is in full swing, as has been widely rumoured.

All three new iPhone models due to be launched this September are all said to use the A11 chip, which uses the new 10-nanometer FinFET manufacturing process that was first introduced by TSMC, which is the only supplier of the chip at the moment. The company was said to have signed an exclusive deal with Apple last year to make the new chip due to its highly developed device-packaging techniques, the key features of which are higher-width memory buses and lower-power operation. This means that the new A11 chip will be faster and more power-efficient than the current iPhone processor chip, the A10.
