Email notification reliability

I made the switch, from android to 5C. One issue I'm having, wondering if it's just me or not.
sometimes when I get an email, all works right ie there is a little number by the email icon indicating how many new I have and the lock screen shows it. But most of the time if I open my email and find there are new mails in there and I got no notifications. I have every possible notifier enabled and it set to notify with as little as one new message. Any thoughts? Anyone else with this?

Maybe you only notified the primary email. Check the notify all emails so you get a notification on everything

If it's gmail it will only push thru its own app. As far as I know.

Reloaded my email settings, got it working


however..... I think I'll be sending it back and paying the restocking fee and getting something else.
It's so tiny, no widgets, no flash on browser, can't browse web while on the phone, and to me the home screen just looks kinda "playschool" like. I kinda feel like I took 3 steps back to the days of my old palm pre phone.
