Apple introduced the iPhone 5s only a couple of days ago, but we are already getting reports about its graphics performance. At the launch event, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, mister Phil Schiller, said that iPhone 5s’ CPU and graphics unit (the GPU) are twice as fast in speed as the iPhone 5. That might have seemed like too much, but some early graphics benchmarks confirm that we have not been fooled.

Renown tech writer Brian Klug from AnandTech has discovered the results of a graphics benchmark test run on the iPhone 5s and uploaded on the GFXBench website . At this moment, probably only people from Apple’s staff can do to that. Or, who knows, maybe some curious journalist managed to perform a quick GPU test during the very first hands-on after the launch event.

What matters, though, is this - even if partial, the graphic results tested with Egypt HD 2.5 benchmark revealed significant improvements compared to the iPhone 5. More exactly, in the frame rate field, the iPhone 5s has a score of 56.0 fps compared to iPhone 5’s 29.8 fps and the onscreen score sees the iPhone 5 at 41.1 fps while the 5s obtains 53.0 fps. But since these are early tests, we must take this info with a grain of salt.

The iPhone 5s could have even better scores, as developers have not yet optimized their apps for the new 64-bit A7 architecture that also comes with support for OpenGL ES version 3.0.
