I have my iPhone set to keep originals, but where does it put the DNGs?

Are you using the native camera app ? If so, then it doesn't produce any raw (dng) files. You have to use a 3rd party camera app for that. The "keep original" setting is for hdr and/or live photos

Thanks for the info, why wouldn't Apple build that into the native camera app?

I don't know why. I use several 3rd party apps that produce raw output. Also they produce tiff if desired

Probably because most photographers don’t need that feature.

I think you're right. The overwhelming majority of iPhone users still don't understand what RAW images are about. They'd never use it.
