Display is active during call ?puts on hold.

I noticed the display stays on when you put phone to ear
And then it ends up pushing things like mute or speaker.
I thought the display was supposed to go off so that doesn't
Happen. Is there a way to prevent that? Or to lock or close display
When making a call?

It's a well known problem with the proximity sensor. Take it back to apple and get a replacement...

ahhhh i just got the phone on sat at walmart figured out that it was broke after i got home (no speakers) told to take to apple on sun they gave me a reman phone and now this!!! i should have got a refund and charged for a reman phone not a new one. but thanks for the help

am i right when thinking the screen should go out when you place it to your ear?also if you know when your in a app and click the home button does it stop the data and close the app?because some times when you click that app it goes right back to that screen and i want to be sure of how to close a app and make sure i am not still using data

If you want to just deal with it and you have a jailbroken phone you can download an app like call lock that locks your screen when you pick up a call
