    Specs:
    iPhone 4S 7.1.2 Pangu Jailbreak

Context: I attempted to fake my iOS version by changing it in iFile. Cydia no longer installs anything successfully. iFile is gone from the home screens. Apple App store also does not download anything or even show any content whatsoever. I tried some Terminal commands to reinstall Cydia, and it appears to have removed it, but without the reinstall succeeding. Now, when I open Cydia, it attempts to open but immediately it blanks and goes back to the home screen.

Any ideas what to do? or is this the end for ol' iPhone 4S? :p

If iTunes recognizes your iPhone, you can probably restore your iPhone but this will update your iOS version to iOS 9.3.5 and you’ll lose your jailbreak.

Have you tried putting your iPhone into DFU mode?

If you follow these instructions, you should be able to restore your iPhone. If it doesnt work, you likely have a hardware problem. DFU Mode - The iPhone Wiki

No, all data on the iPhone will be lost. You’d have to restore from a backup after getting the iPhone working.
