custom ringtones

i have come from android where it is easy to add ringtones. i have tried following guides but can not get itunes to see the ones i have.i converted them from mp3 to m4r any ideas

Welcome to the forum... Are you making them 40 seconds or under... When you try to get them to iTunes what is your exact steps?

Yes they are under 40 seconds I have used add to library,drag and dropped them to iTunes with and without the phone connected

I believe it changed a little.. Now you have to connect phone then find the tones folder in iTunes under the phone tree of folder.. Drag and drop over..

30 seconds are the max length of ringtones. Here's a thread that talks all about how to add them.
