Connecting to iPhone's hotspot

Hey,

I'd like to setup a homespot on my iPhone 4S but I can't seem to connect to it with my iPad Mini, iPad or MacBook Air.
Any tricks to fix this? I've tried forgetting the network on my iPad and then join the hotspot again, switching WiFi off and on, resetting the network settings on my Iphone, ...

Are you using the stock Personal Hotspot from iOS 6? Because in many cases, that does require your carrier to unlock, and often times it does come with a monthly flat charge.

What do you mean with 'stock' personal hotspot? I am using IOS 6.0.1
I have a sim lock free phone

Stock meaning the one in Settings.app rather than an app from Cydia. Since you're on 6.0.1, it'll be the stock personal hotspot. That has to be unlocked by your carrier since it counts towards tethering data.

Thank you. I found out what I had to do. I had to configure the internet-tethering settings. It's all working now
