choppy video playback

alright, so i'm new to apple. so far love it. updated my iphone 4s to iOS6. if watching youtube videos on my phone, they will play for a second or 2 and i have to keep hitting the "play" button like a million times. it just keeps stopping. any ideas on what i should try? thanks in advance for your help.

That is usually the result of a slow network connection. Which will be compounded by the fact that the native YouTube app that had a better buffer algorithm has been replaced with one from Google that isn't so great at it.

so time to bite the bullet and get my wifi router. would this help to be on wireless?

If your internet speed at home is faster than 2 megabits, then heck yes you will be better off on WiFi than 3G.
