My iphone4 will not connect with my Macbook, yet both are discoverable. Can anyone suggest a solution please.

what are you trying to do? connect but to send files?

Your iPhone 4 should be able to connect to your MacBook via Bluetooth in order to provide an Internet connection through the personal hotspot feature. Is that what you're trying to accomplish?

All I want to do is send images from my macbook to my iphone.

send and receive function is not enabled on ios devices, use either icloud which automatically shares or just plus it in with the usb and it will let you access the photos, or use itunes
