Wondering if it would be possible to backup my iphone4 on iTunes that is used by another phone and keep everything separate. Am wanting to jailbreak but have no Internet access due to moving. Have to use someone else's computer.

Sent from my iPhone using iPF.net

The best bet will be to use the guest acct. on their computer. The iTunes on the guest acct will be kept separate than the owners.

I currently have 3 iPhones, 2 touchs, 3 iPads, and a hand full of iPods on my iTunes. No problems whatsoever.

As long as you differentiate the Apple ID in between each device, you can have as many devices as you want.

I've currently got 5 iPads, 2 iPhones, and an iPod on my iTunes account. I've had no problems.

That's good to know. Don't want to screw up my moms iTunes account. Never hear the end of it.

The key is to note the Apple IDs on each device. If all your devices share the same Apple ID, then it doesn't matter whether or not you log out of your Apple ID on iTunes since they're all the same. But, since one of the iPhones belong to your mom, most likely, she'll be using her own Apple ID and such, so to prevent mixing up of data from your ID and your mom's ID, you'll need to make sure that you swap out the Apple ID depending on the device.

I have a similar question to the one above, and because everyone seems knowledgeable about sharing, I'm going to give this a shot:

I have an extensive library of shared tracks [both purchased and ripped] that are shared between two computers. I created a specific playlist for the phone [it's only 16 g]. When I go to itunes/more/shared on the iphone [6.oi] I see the shared libraries, and if I go into one, I get a store button on the upper left. However, if I click on the playlist, I will get all the track titles [even after the sharing computer's itunes is closed, but they don't play, there nothing there.

Because my whole library is way bigger than the phone, I need a way to be able to pick and choose tracks, or at least playlists from the home computer.

I assume you meant you are going to Music/More/Shared, right?
If so, then you are doing everything correctly. I just did this exact thing on my iPhone and it worked perfectly. You could try restarting your PC. I have around 150GB of music in my PC's iTunes library and my phone plays anything just fine. It does take a good minute to load the library up before I can play anything and the PC does have to be on. You could also try restarting the iPhone.

OK, but not sure I am stating the problem well, to wit: when either computer is on, and has itunes running, the iphone can see the playlists of each, or both if they both have itunes open. The problem is, I don't see where I can load my iphone with music of either. What I can do is download purchased music from the icloud; those tracks have the cloud with the down arrow. The goal, however, is to transfer tracks found in the combined library which was ripped from discs in my possession [ or that came from the amazon cloud and downloaded to my library]. I don't see a button or anything to initiate that transfer, and, when I close the computers, the connection to the phone is lost.

Go to Music/More/Shared/Home's Library
As soon as you click on Home's Library you will see a spinning pinball to the right of it loading. On my phone this takes a good 2 minutes because I have so much music. What's really happening is just the names of the songs are being loaded into my phone, no actual music. When the loading is finished I can now select a song and it will stream from my PC to my phone.

In order for any of this to work Home Shared must be turned on on both the PC and the iDevice. In addition the PC has to be on and iTunes has to be running. If iTunes is turned off or the PC is shut done then the music won't stream. You will still see all your PC's songs on your phone, but they will not play.

Hope that answers your question.

I had seen that pin wheel, it was going on and on [i think perhaps at one point it timed out?] and I was sure that was the downloading process. I will redo and let you know the result.

What type of idevice are you using?
The pinwheel will spin for almost 5 minutes on a 4th gen iPod touch. On my iPhone 5 it take a minute or two. So be patient.
