I currently have boost and I'm switching to go phone. I have a stock at&t iphone 4, do I need to unlock it to use the go phone sim in it?

Ok thanks all the threads were split between yes and no

Also I understand that I can jailbreak it without it being activated but can I unlock it without it having service?

Yes their $50 unlimited everything

There's no need to Unlock then since you're still using AT&T's service. However... the "Everything" on that does not cover your iPhones's data usage.

How do they know the difference between data for a go phone and data for a iphone? And how can I get around it?

Unfortunately... there's no way to get around it that I know or have heard of. How do they know... to put it simply... because its their network & they'll know you're using an iPhone w/ a Go Phone sim.

Nice, would it just be better to unlock it for boost? I don't want to have to pay a ton of money thats why I'm trying to unlock it

That depends on your needs... I'm not sure how well Boost's cell service integrates w/ the iPhone. If it's anything like T-mobile... the iPhone will only work on their 2G service and not 3G. You'll also need to check and see if Boost's APN settings are compatible w/ the iPhone for SMS/MMS messaging.

Speaking of APN settings I've found a couple threads where you can change the APN for go phone to use att internet

Isn't Boost CDMA(not compatible)?

You could use your iPhone with Straight Talk. They are a prepaid service provider that runs on AT&T. You don't need to unlock your iPhone to use them. They offer unlimited talk, text, and data for $45 dollars a month. The catch is that data is really limited to 2GBs a month, not unlimited. But, if you use less than 100MB a day, no more then 2GBs a month, it's an awesome deal. I'm current using them.

There's a thread here with all the info, just search for Straight Talk. It's in the Carrier section. I'd link it, but I'm on my phone.

I did see your thread and seems like the best option yet, I have about a month before I switch, just to clarify straight will work with the 4 not just the 4s. I'm also going to track my data use on my android just to get an idea, I do have wifi at home it's just every where else is what I worry about

Straight Talk works with all of the iPhones.
