Apple's position in the television market has been a bit wonky since the beginning. In the past we've heard rumors that Apple might be releasing full-fledged television sets, however those rumors have seemed to quiet down.

In the news on Friday, John Paczowski of BuzzFeed reports that Apple will be announcing a redesigned Apple TV in June at WWDC. The new redesign will also include the all-new App Store for the device, along with a new SDK for developers.

So far we've seen that the Apple TV is nearly as powerful as other iOS devices, running Apple's latest A8 system-on-chip technology. At its 'Spring Forward' event, the company announced its partnership with HBO, along with slashing the price to $69. This also further supports rumors that Apple is looking to unleash a $30-40 per month wed TV streaming service.

Adding an App Store to the Apple TV will further integrate iOS device into the home. We can already see the possibilities with games and third-party gaming controllers for such a device. Who knows, the Apple TV could someday take over home consoles.

It'll be interesting to see if this new version of the Apple TV sells for more money than the current one. The price reduction of the current model could have been a move by Apple to clear out the existing inventory of Apple TV's before the launch of the new model.

It would nice to have gaming in Apple TV use your 6/6plus as a controller have all the latest games and have cable services on there as well
