iMore has news today on Apple’s current progress with the next iPhone. According to their sources, Apple has not yet finalized the next iPhone’s design, but the source says that contrary to some reports, the phone will not have a massive screen and will not exceed four inches in width. iMore’s source also debunked previous rumours regarding the next iPhone having 16:9 aspect ratio or a metal back, saying that neither were on the cards. According to the report, it’s Apple’s extensive protyping that is responsible for many of the conflicting rumours before a phone is released, with some of the prototypes really pushing the envelope, which could explain some of the more unlikely rumours that sometimes emerge. iMore’s source adds that few aspects of the next iPhone have been decided on yet, although they do say that it will have the smaller dock connector that has been rumoured previously, and it will still have a Home button. Finally, iMore’s source says that the next iPhone will be launched in October of this year.
