[FONT=&quot]According to a new report from Engadget today, Apple could be planning to launch a LTE-Advanced-enabled iPhone 5S for the South Korean market. The news comes from a source inside SK Telecom, who told Engadget that the company is negotiating with Apple to release just such a ground-breaking model later in the year. The original story, broken by The Korea Times, said that SK Telecom had made the initial approach to Apple, but Apple was also happy to take part in the negotiations. Engadget says that an LTE-Advanced iPhone 5S could, in theory, double the download speeds of a standard LTE iPhone 5. SK Telecom has only just launched the world’s first publicly available LTE-Advance service in South Korea. The Korea Times also said that Apple is considering using Qualcomm to provide the LTE-A modem for the phone, and not a Snapdragon 800 processor, such as the one used in the world’s first LTE-A compatible phone, Samsung’s South Korean Galaxy S4, as Apple prefers to use its own in-house processors.
