Last week, Apple introduced the much-awaited iPhone 5c. During the same event, the iPhone maker has showed off its first ad for the smartphone. Now, the same ad has been used by Apple to promote its iPhone 5c on television. The ad highlights iPhone 5c's plastic shell that comes in a variety of vibrant colors.

The first iPhone 5c ad is titled "Plastic Perfected," and is unlike any recent iPhone ads that you have seen. This time, Apple focuses more on the product and its construction than its features or special apps. Apple has a tough marketing job ahead, since in the mind of consumers, plastic is associated with poor quality.

The background song used is Sleigh Bells' hit track "Rill Rill," and the ad only runs for 30-seconds, something which is considered average for a television ad.

The short video ad depicts the iPhone 5c being "built up" with liquified plastic which is technically polycarbonate. Peter Cohen from iMore explains why Apple’s use of plastic in the iPhone 5c doesn’t make it of poor quality:

“And the big downside to polycarbonate is just that: while it's shatter-resistant, it scratches easily. That's why Apple has taken a step that some other smartphone makers haven't - they've lacquer coated the polycarbonate back of the iPhone 5c to make it more scratch resistant.”

What do you think of the first iPhone 5c ad?
