Following on from Monday's news from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that he expects iPhone 7 shipments to be lower than those of the iPhone 6s, year-on-year, there’s much more encouraging news for Apple today, with MacRumors reporting that Apple has dramatically increased its part and component orders for the iPhone 7 for Q4. In fact, Apple is said by sources in Taiwan’s touch panel makers General Interface Solution (GIS), which is part of Foxconn, to have increased its component orders by between 20% and 30% more than expected.

The GIS source told DigiTimes that it expects its own revenues to grow markedly in Q4 2016 as a result of the increased orders.

Once again, there is mention of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 recall as being one of the reasons for the surprisingly (for some) high demand for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In a recent poll from Survey Monkey, 26% of Galaxy Note 7 owners said that they would spend their refunds on the iPhone 7, and 35% said that they would keep the refund and did not say what the next phone they might buy would be. In contrast, only 21% said they would buy a different Samsung phone with the refund, and only 18% said that they would get a replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
