Apple and Huawei to benefit most from Galaxy Note 7 debacle.JPG

According to highly credible KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, via MacRumors, both Apple and Huawei are set to profit from Samsung’s withdrawal from sale of the Galaxy Note 7.

Kuo says that both companies can expect to see their orders increased due to previous Note 7 customers wanting to find a dual-camera smartphone, which at present is primarily Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus and Huawei’s forthcoming Mate 9.

Kuo adds that while he thinks Apple will profit greatly from Samsung’s misfortune, these benefits will be “largely reflected in raised forecasts,” rather than in actual iPhone shipping figures.

Kuo estimates that approximately 5 to 7 million of the potential 12 to 14 million Galaxy Note 7 buyers would now buy an iPhone 7 instead, or, more precisely, an iPhone 7 Plus.

Kuo cites “no trust in the Samsung brand anymore” and “like dual camera feature” as two of the characteristics of consumers that have switched over to the iPhone after the Note 7 was discontinued.

Having discovered iOS, it's a good bet many, perhaps most, of these new customers will never go back.
