Apple Increases Lead Over Samsung in US Smartphone Market

Encouraging news for Apple today from AppleInsider, which reports on new data from comScore via its MobiLens report on the US smartphone market. The new data, for the three-month period ending April 2013, reveals that the iPhone’s marketshare is growing at a faster rate than that of Samsung. According to comScore, both Apple and Samsung’s marketshare has increased over the period in question, but Apple’s share is growing faster, up to 39.2% in April 2013 from 37.8% in January 2013, representing an increase of 1.4%. In contrast, Samsung’s share rose from 21.4% to 22.0% in the same time period, showing growth of 0.6%. This also puts Apple’s lead over Samsung as the largest smartphone manufacturer to 17.2% as opposed to the previous lead of 16.4%. [/FONT]
