AppleInsider reports today on the latest figures from comScore, which show that Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android are continuing to grow in terms of smartphone market share. According to comScore’s results, which looked at the three month period ending in July, the iPhone is now responsible for one out of every three smartphones sold, with 33.4%, while Google’s Android also had great results, with 52.2% of the smartphone market share, up 1.4%. Apple showed a greater percentage gain than Google, albeit just slightly, with its 2% increase. BlackBerry’s RIM continued on its downward trend, falling by 2.1% to 9.5%. In terms of manufacturers, comScore reported that 25.6% of the 234 million Americans of 13 years and older that own a mobile device have a Samsung phone, representing a drop of 0.3%. In contrast, Apple was the only one of the top three manufacturers to actually increase its market share in this period, up by 1.9% points to 16.3%.
