Maybe this has to do with such the demand when it was first released and rumors of the next new one coming in?

Its because apple are falling behind and they are too expensive. Contracts on iphone 5's have gone up in the UK. Because of 4g they want you to pay more per month. So phones that dont have 4g are a better option for people now because money is tight. Not to mention the iphone 5 is pretty much the same as the 4s so people wont feel the need to upgrade

but you are right with the iphone 4s and 5...
