According to a story on MacRumors today, originally published by Telecoms.com, Apple is very particular about letting the iPhone 5 connect to carriers’ LTE networks. The source says that Apple always tests a carrier network before enabling LTE support for the iPhone 5 on the network in question. Swiss carrier Swisscom revealed that Apple has not yet permitted the iPhone 5 to work on its LTE network, which it only launched this week, according to MacRumors. “Apple will provide a software update in due course,” said Swisscom via a press release. Presumably this is because Apple has not yet had a chance to test the network, something which must be vexing to the carrier, but, on the other hand, very reassuring to the customer. Telecoms. com says that Alcatel Lucent CTO Marcus Weldon has criticised Apple for having such stringent standards, saying that it was “too big for its boots.”[/FONT]
