With autumn almost at our doorstep,, Apple is expected to unravel two new products – the so called iPhone 5S and the cheaper version aimed at developing markets, iPhone 5C. KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo, who so far has been known to predict pretty accurately, claims in a note to investors that Apple is on track with the preparations.

Kuo expects Apple to finalize its deal with China Mobile’s TDD-LTE network, just in time before the cheaper iPhone is unleashed on the market. He went on to speculate that the iPhone 5C will be a replacement of the iPhone 4S and not of the iPhone 5. Why is that? Because he expects to see the cheaper device priced somewhere around $400-500 and with features similar to the iPhone 4S.

According to sources which are familiar with the matter, Apple will start the production for the iPhone 5C as early as August and might be extended on to September. Curiously, he states that even if the iPhone 5C will obviously be cheaper than the next gen iPhone, he expects the low cost one to be outsold eventually.

How much items will Apple end up shipping? Kuo believes that the Cupertino tech giant will sell as much as 8.4 million iPhone 5Cs and 5.2 million iPhone 5Ss just in the third quarter of 2013. The holiday quarter is expected to be more profitable with sales figures rising to 28 million for the iPhone 5S and for the 18.7 million iPhones 5C. Apple will most likely unravel the new products during an event set for September the 10th.
