Wifi issue

Hi all, my IPhone 4S started to drop the wifi connection, now is doesn't recognise any wifi signal. I he's heard that restoring may fix this, but how do I know if is a hardware issue? If restoring doesn't fix the problem I will lose all the apps I have bigger than 50mb (that can be downloaded only through wifi)

The official Apple iPhone forum has hundreds of posts from 4S owners with this problem. It's related to IOS 6.1.3. Apparently there is a defect in the phone's wifi chip which shows up under 6.1.3. The OS places a heavier load on the chip causing it to fail. Lots of so called fixes are out there but the bottom line fix seems to be to take it in and have Apple evaluate it. If you are still under warranty they will probably replace the phone. If you are out of warranty it will cost you $199 to replace the phone.
