What is Cydia ?

Please forgive the newbe question as I am a iphone4 newbe !!!!

Is Cydia an app? Does my phone have to be "jail broken" for this? The reason I ask, is that there are some cool stuff from them and I would really like to use their apps...

yes when you jailbreak it adds cydia to your phone its like an app store for all the themes, tweaks and apps you can get once your phone as been jailbroken

note: not every developer puts their stuff on cydia but i would say a large majority of them are found in cydia
