Apple products have managed to create the most spectacular combos. For example, the iPhone combined with some lenses was turned by a team of medical professionals into a low cost microscope.

This week brings news of yet another interesting partnership between Apple and this time, a famous car manufacturer. According to information provided by USA Today, Volkswagen is getting ready to uncover at the Shanghai auto show a type of intelligent car they have called iBeetle. The vehicle will use the design of the 2013 Beetle model but add a tweak.

The “i” in iBeetle means that drivers purchasing the car will have access to an integrated iPhone dock available on the dashboard. The Apple system is located just above the GPS and music system, so it’s very easily reachable.

Basically, the dock will allow users to have access to a suite of applications without them having to actually touch the phone to do so. This invention might prove to be a big plus for road safety. For example, owners of iBeetle can play your favorite songs on Spotify and check if you have Facebook messages via a text-to-speech functionality.

That’s not all Volkswagen is doing in order to better integrate the iOS experience into their products. The car manufacturer is designing special apps for the iPhone and some of them might prove to be very useful for drivers. For example, one such application is capable of measuring oil and coolant temperatures.
